Three Express Holiday Styles to Add to Your Menu

Parties, galas, and gatherings galore! The holiday season brings many occasions where clients want to pair their outfits with a festive holiday hairstyle. Below, stylist Victoria Cota @transformedbeauty details three different looks that can be achieved in a short amount of time at the salon. These looks can also be added on to any pre-existing salon appointment without adding too much additional time, saving your clients the hassle of trying to do their own hair before their big event.

STEP 1 : Prep the hair with either a voluminous blowout or a curl, depending on the client’s preference.

STEP 2: Create a circle sectioning, starting 1-2 inches from the bang line, circling around to the lower crown, making sure your parting doesn’t fall below the parietal ridge.

STEP 3: Once this section is isolated, using your fingers or a comb, gather the hair to fall in the middle of the crown at the base of the scalp. Once the hair is smoothed and gathered, create a ponytail and secure with an elastic. Clip the ponytail up and out of the way for step 4.

STEP 4: Right below the last sectioning, starting from the front hairline and scooping back towards the crown, take a 1/8”-1/4” subsection

and start to ponytail it off. This will also live in the middle of the crown, at the base of the scalp, but rather than pull the ponytail through, create a loop.

STEP 5: Feed the first ponytail through the loop of the second ponytail. Once the ponytail is through the loop, tighten the loop. This will help the hide the elastic of the first ponytail while bringing the look together. For style longevity, use one to two bobby pins to secure the hair from the loop to the elastic of ponytail one. Detail to finish and set into place with Kenra Volume Spray 25.

STEP 1: Prep hair with a voluminous blowout. Backcomb the crown if desired, depending on the on the client’s preference.

STEP 2: At the base of the neck, create 2 side-by-side inverted ponytails to create a point of interest. Once inverted ponytails are detailed and complete, combine the two together in a single ponytail.

STEP 3: Splitting the hair from the ponytail in half, backcomb the interior of that section to create a small “hair pillow” that will help create the first bubble. Use the remaining hair to cover and smooth out the backcombed section. Ponytail off about 1-2 inches from the base ponytail to create your first bubble. If needed, feel free to detail by pinching and pulling the hair to create a rounder, fuller bubble.

STEP 4: Before creating your section bubble, take a small section of hair and wrap it around the elastic, securing it with a bobby pin.
Pro Tip: Texturizing Taffy 13 is a perfect product to smooth down the strand of hair before wrapping and pinning. It gives a glossy ribboning effect for a polished look.

STEP 5: Once elastic is hidden, repeat step 3 to create your second bubble. Complete the look by hiding the final elastic and spray with Kenra Platinum Finishing Spray 26.

STEP 1: Prep hair with a soft, round curl utilizing a 1 ¼ inch iron. Backcomb the crown and sides for desired volume.

STEP 2: Centered in the nape, create 2 loop ponytails. These ponytails should be perpendicular to each other. The first loop ponytail will be all the hair above the ears and the second one will be all the hair below.

STEP 3: Once both loop ponytails complete, feed the bottom loop through the top loop, securing the hair over top elastic with bobby pins.

STEP 4: Taking the top loop, drape it over the bottom elastic and secure with bobby pins.

STEP 5: Detail by pinching and pulling the hair to create a more airy, soft texture. Continue to secure by adding any hair pins or bobby pins and finish with Kenra Platinum Heat Block Spray 22.
